This first advance poster is rare.

The Beatles made a total of four films, this being their most famous. Original British posters for this film are highly sought-after. Heinz Edelmann was a German illustrator and designer, and is most celebrated for his art direction and character designs for this animated film. Edelmann designed three British posters for the release of this film. This first and second advance posters, would have been used several months before the release of the film, and featured minimal artwork. The artwork for this first advance poster gave a small taste as to what would follow. The second advance poster then featured a little more of the artwork, with the final poster having the full artwork with the film's credits.

This animated musical fantasy was inspired by the song Yellow Submarine by John Lennon and Paul McCartney. The animation features songs by The Beatles. The Beatles appear as animated characters in the film, with their voices being done by other actors, until the final scene, when their real voices are used.
