This finely executed work is clearly comparable to another version with a similar composition in the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Reims (inv. D. 976.10); see Antoine Schnapper and Christine Gouzi, Jean Jouvenet (1644-1717) et la peinture d’histoire à Paris, Paris 2010, p. 204-205, no. P. 33). It does not seem to match any of the versions, studio replicas or copies listed in the 2010 monograph; however its quality seems comparable to the partially autograph replica in the Changeux collection (Schnapper and Gouzi, op. cit., no. P. 35), and it can therefore be attributed to Jean Jouvenet.

De belle facture, cette œuvre est bien évidemment à rapprocher d’une autre version de composition semblable, conservée au musée des Beaux-Arts de Reims (Inv. D. 976.10 ; voir Antoine Schnapper et Christine Gouzi, Jean Jouvenet (1644-1717) et la peinture d’histoire à Paris, Paris, 2010, p. 204-205, n° P. 33). Elle ne semble pas correspondre à l’une des versions, répliques d’atelier ou copies listées dans la monographie de 2010, mais sa qualité en revanche semble comparable à celle de la réplique autographe partielle conservée dans la collection Changeux (Schnapper et Gouzi, op. cit., n° P. 35), ce qui permet de l’attribuer à Jean Jouvenet.
