Comparable carved acanthus decoration is frequently encountered in the ornamental prints of Jean Le Pature (1618-1682), a designer and engraver who supplied work to the Court and leading architects, woodcarvers and ébénistes including André-Charles Boulle. A similar pair of putti holding a basket of flowers appears in one of Le Pautre's designs for a fireplace surround and overmantel published by Mariette in Nouveaux dessins de cheminées à l'italienne (c.1660).
