This beautiful photo (taken July 20, 1969) shows Buzz Aldrin standing next to the United States flag on the lunar surface. It is perhaps this very picture that best symbolizes the U.S.'s accomplishment of President John F. Kennedy's challenge of landing a man on the Moon.
