This 1936 American western was directed by Joseph Kane. The cast includes John Wayne, George Hayes, and a young Ann Rutherford. It's 1890 and undercover federal agents John Tipton (John Wayne) and Bridger (Lane Chandler) head to Crocket City, Wyoming to oversee the impending vote on becoming a state. Charles Plummer (Harry Woods) and his gang are terrorising the locals to ensure that the vote fails, and Major Carter (George Hayes) who has become the new editor and publisher of the local newspaper, declares his plans to use the paper to fight lawlessness and help become an independent state. Plummer and his gang have other ideas to make sure that this doesn't happen.
