Description

My Darling Clementine (1946) Poster, US

Artist: Sergio Gargiulo (dates unknown)

Unframed: 81 x 41 in. (206 x 104 cm)

Sergio Gargiulo designed a magnificent poster for this landmark western.

This poster was printed in two sheets and designed to be pasted onto billboards. Therefore only unused posters survived.

This western was directed by John Ford. The cast includes Henry Fonda, Victor Mature, and Linda Darnell. The film is set a year after the actual gunfight at the OK Corral. The Earp brothers ride to Tombstone, Arizona, leaving behind their brother James in charge of their herd of cattle. On their return, they find their brother dead, and cattle were stolen. Wyatt Earp (Henry Fonda) takes on the job of a town marshal, and makes his brother's deputies, and vows to stay in Tombstone until their brother's murderers are found. Before too long he runs into a collection of undesirable characters, and the brothers' revenge is reckoned. The title of the film is taken from the theme song 'Oh My Darling, Clementine', which is partly sung during the opening and closing credits.
