This artist, who was not known by name for a long time and was referred to as 'Pseudo-Van de Venne', was associated with Jan van der Venne by Jacques Foucart in 1978. In 1983 Prof. Hans Vlieghe discovered a signed painting by the artist and Van der Venne's work has since been reconstructed on the basis of other signed and documented works.
