Anonymous sale, London, Christie's South Kensington, 11 December 2009, lot 31 (as circle of El Greco);
Where acquired by the present owner for £27,500.
This painting relates to El Greco's depictions of Saint James Major, which form parts of two sets of Apostles, one series in Toledo Cathedral, the other in the Museo del Greco, Toledo.1
