Louis-Léopold Boilly

La Bassée 1761 - 1845 Paris

Portrait of Aimé-Jacques-Marie-Constant de Moreton de Chabrillan

Black chalk and stumping, heightened with white;

signed and dated in black chalk, lower right: L. Boilly / 1803

248 by 170 mm; 9 3/4 by 6 3/4 in

Laid down on an old decorative mount which has subsequently been hinged to a modern decorative mount. There is some very minor toning to the sheet and a small pin prick hole to the upper half of the right edge. There is a tiny brown spot of surface dirt to the actual right cheek of the sitter. The drawing remains in otherwise absolutely delightful, fresh condition throughout with the combination of media vibrant and the image strong. Sold in an Empire style giltwood frame.
