folio (310 x 215mm.), manuscript on vellum, 6 leaves, first initial with floral decoration, opening heading "Don Carlos" and other smaller initials illuminated, bound with a single thick twined coloured thread, first and last blank pages used as wrapper, first leaf slightly damaged at centre of foredge, some staining with slight loss of text on final page, lacking lead seal (mentioned in the text)
