The canvas is original. The work appears in excellent overall condition.


There is one small historic loss to the centre of both left and right extreme edges. Possible discoloured varnish.


Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals no obvious signs of fluorescence or retouching.


The work is affixed to a painted canvasboard mount and held within a stained wooden box frame behind glass. The outer edges where the canvas stretches over the stretcher bar are covered by painted linen that has been adhered.
