signed Auerbach and dated 1961-62 (upper left); also signed Auerbach and dated 1961-2 (upper right)

charcoal and ink on paper

unframed (window): 57 by 80cm.; 22½ by 31½in.

framed: 75 by 97cm.; 29½ by 38in.

Executed in 1961-2.

At least two sheets have been layered on top of one another by the artist. The sheets are sound and are affixed to the mount with adhesive tape about the edges to the reverse. The sheets are slightly cockled in keeping with the medium. Generally in excellent overall condition. There are artist pinholes to the corners and edges. The sheets have inherent tears, scuffs and losses, in keeping with the artist's method. There are flecks of studio matter, including a spot of varnish to the left hand edge which is flaking with a few tiny losses. Evidence of old adhesive used to secure the sheets, which has discoloured in one or two places. Held under glass in a gilt wood frame with a canvas mount.
