The canvas is original but has been strip lined around the edges. Generally in very good overall condition. There are areas of paint separation and minor lines of craquelure, particularly in the dark brown pigments. Canvas undulates slightly and there is a small push the the canvas upper centre. Some frame abrasions with tiny losses to extreme edges. Light surface dirt. Ultraviolet light reveals some possible retouching to the figure's hand. Other pigments fluoresce but these appear to be the hand of the artist. Held in an ornate plaster and wood frame with significant losses.
