framed: 48 by 58.5cm.; 19 by 23in.

Executed in 1935-6.

We are grateful to Jovan Nicholson for his kind assistance with the cataloguing of the present work.

On wove paper, the sheet is laid down onto board, which is adhered to a backing board in all four corners. All four edges are very slightly unevenly cut, in keeping with the Artist's materials. The work appears to be in good overall condition. There are a few pale handling marks and smudges in places, in keeping with the Artist's working method. There is a small soft diagonal crease (1cm in length) in the upper left corner with handling marks in all four corners (most only visible in raking light). Other soft creases elsewhere. There are two small scratches to the brown pigment in the lower quadrant. Some scuffs and tiny losses to the edges. Some further light surface dirt, foxing marks and specks of staining to the work in places. The work is float mounted and presented in a simple wooden frame, held under glass.
