Peacock, pheasant, chickens, partridges and a lapwing in a landscape

oil on canvas

canvas: 39 ½ by 49 ½ in.; 100.3 by 125.7 cm.

framed: 46 ½ by 55 ½ in.; 118.1 by 141 cm.

The canvas is lined and is taut on its stretcher. The image reads well beneath the varnish with the bold colors and decoration of central bird retained. A few light superficial scratches are visible in the upper center along with a spot of discolored varnish at the upper left, but these are not distracting. Under UV inspection, finely applied retouching is visible in small concentrated areas throughout, some of which addresses repairs that are just barely visible to the naked eye, such as in the center column, the rooster's tail, and the shaded area below the peacock. Overall the painting is in good condition and can hang in its present state. Offered in a decoratively carved giltwood frame.
