Condition report

The following condition report was kindly provided by Simon Parkes art Conservation, Inc.:

This work seems to be unlined. The paint layer is stable. It is well varnished.

The retouches are visible under ultraviolet light. In the left side of the sky, there is a group above the green mountain on the left side, numerous spots in the upper left corner, and a horizontal line of retouches addressing either a stretcher mark or crack. The right side of the sky shows considerably fewer retouches. There are no retouches in the waterfall itself. In the sandy foreground, there is a group of retouches in the lower center. In the green landscape, there are numerous retouches in the shadowed cliff to the left of the waterfall, and in the darker colors in the center of the left side. There is a 3-inch restoration running vertically to the left of the waterfall in the center of the painting. There is another retouching in the upper center of the cliff, immediately to the left of the waterfall. There are numerous small retouches in the dark colors of the landscape on the right side. There are some slightly larger restorations addressing paint losses in the green vegetation directly above the sandy foreground in the lower right.

The restorations are well applied, and the work should be hung in its current state.
