The following condition report was kindly provided by Simon Parkes art Conservation, Inc.:

This work is in excellent condition. The canvas has never been removed from its original stretcher. Slight waves to the surface have developed in the upper right. There is a faintly visible pattern of cracking in some areas. The work has been conservatively cleaned and varnished.

Under ultraviolet light, a few tiny dots of retouching are visible in the shadows above the eyes, beneath the nose, and to the right of the mouth. There are a few small spots in the hair above the center of the forehead. There is one spot in the center of the left side, and another near the edge in the lower left corner.

The work can be hung in its current state.
