The present lot is a version of Van Dyck's portrait of Anne Russell at Petworth House, Collection of Lord Egremont, painted circa 1638. Van Dyck painted her portrait at least twice, both times shortly after the sitter's marriage to William Russell, 5th Earl of Bedford (later 1st Duke of Bedford), in 1637.
