a pair, both oil on canvas, both framed as ovals

each canvas: 22 ½ by 17 ½ in.; 57.2 by 44.5 cm.

each framed: 32 by 27 in.; 81.3 by 68.6 cm.

The canvases are wax lined and taut on their stretchers. The images read very well beneath clear varnish with faint craquelure visible in the sky of each composition that is stable and not distracting. Under UV inspection, very little retouching is visible. On the first canvas, only 2 spots fluoresce: one at the upper left edge and one on the neck of the center putto. On the second canvas, retouching is visible on the left side near the frame and in the upper right sky. Overall the paintings are in good condition and can hang in their present state. Offered in matching elaborately carved giltwood frames with oval insets.
