Description
Château Haut Brion 1961
Pessac-Léognan (Graves), 1er Cru Classé
u.4x3.5cm, 3x4cm, 1 slightly nicked label, 2 damp-stained labels, 2 slightly wine-stained labels, 1 wine-stained label, 3 slightly torn labels, 2 signs of old seepage, 3 scuffed capsules, 2 corroded capsules, 1 sunken cork
This was the year when some stainless steel vats were introduced at Haut Brion, the first in Bordeaux. In 2014, a devilishly deep, aromatic nose, with notes of gravel and lead pencil. Great cherry and bilberry flavours on the palate. This is a huge, chewy, almost edible wine, doing honour to this incredible vintage. Serena Sutcliffe, MW WA 100
