Ruine de l'abbaye de Montmajour

signed Raoul Dufy (lower right)

watercolour on paper

50.2 by 65.5cm., 19¾ by 25¾in.

Framed: 85 by 100 cm., 33½ by 39¼in.

Executed circa 1926.

Fanny Guillon-Laffaille has kindly confirmed the authenticity of this work which will be included in her forthcoming supplement to the catalogue raisonné of Watercolours, Gouaches and Pastels currently in preparation.

Executed on cream wove paper, not laid down, attached to the mount intermittently along all four edges, and floating in the over-mount. The left edge is deckled and the other edges are very slightly uneven. The sheet is slightly time-stained and there are some scattered spots of foxing in places. There is some minor wear (including paper skinning) to parts of the extreme edges. This work is in overall good condition.
