Pont du Louvre avant L’orage

signed S. Mendjisky and dated 80 (lower right)

oil on canvas

29.8 by 60.2cm., 11¾ by 23¾in.

Framed: 37.2 by 67.3cm., 14 5/8 by 26 1/2 in.

Painted in 1980.

Patricia Mendjisky has kindly confirmed the authenticity of this work.

The canvas is not lined and the edges are taped. UV inspection reveals no evidence of retouching. There is a very minor vertical indentation running down the top half of the extreme left edge, which very likely occurred when the paint was still wet. There are a few scattered fly spots and some light surface dirt in places. This work is in overall very good condition and has a lovely, rich impasto surface.
