Le port en guerre

signed marquet (lower right)

oil on canvas

65 by 80.6cm., 25½ by 31¾in.

Framed: 81.5 by 101.3cm., 32⅛ by 39⅞in.

Painted in 1942.

The canvas is not lined and the edges are taped. Inspection under UV light reveals a few scattered spots of retouching to the left and right edges, a few to the extreme upper left corner and two tiny spots to the sky. There is a tiny paint loss to the centre of the right edge. There are a few fine lines of craquelure in places and some light surface dirt. The canvas is very slightly undulating at all four corners. This work is in overall very good condition.
