The Rolex Daytona reference 16520 marks an extremely important addition for the Daytona collection, launched initially in 1988, it was the first Rolex chronograph wristwatch to be fitted with an automatic movement. Powered by the "Zenith Calibre" 4030, the reference 16520 draws attention to watch enthusiasts for its transitional history and dial variations. One of such rare variations would be displayed on the present example, upon close inspection one would immediately recognize that the chronograph registers has changed from silver, to a charismatic brown texture. Collectors would refer this change to be the "tropical registers" variant, in which the subsidiary dials age into a rich and organic brown colour, for being exposed under substantial ultraviolet rays and sunlight.
