The present wristwatch was one of the famed W.W.W. series issued to the British Ministry of Defense, with Longines being one of the ‘Dirty Dozen’ brands which manufactured wristwatches for the British army during the tail end of world war two. Visible on the dial and engraved on the caseback are prominent ‘Broad Arrow’ symbols, marking the watch as property of the British military.
Longines produced the second lowest amount of W.W.W. watches, just behind Grana at an estimated 5,000 units, all to a high chronometer accuracy and water resistance to match the requirements of the military who needed the best watches for the rigors of war. To find one with a crisp and full case fitted with an original engraved caseback is even more special. This watch is perfect for any enthusiast who wishes to own a watch once worn by a hero of serving in the second world war.
