During the 1960s to the 1970s, the booming days for watch manufacturers, especially Rolex, brands like Omega, IWC and Universal were competing against one another to develop the greatest tool watch for exploring purposes. The Double Red Sea Dweller (DSRD) is one of the few examples that many collectors adore for its exclusivity as well as the historical significance for Rolex. The DSRD is a prime example which expresses “transitional models” for Rolex, as collectors have noticed the many changes from the layout of the dial, depth of the case and inscription of the case back within a period of 10 years. The present watch is considered an early example of the standard production. Made in 1968, it is fitted with the correct MK2 dial identified by the long and skinny cornet with the letters “D” and “W” for the word “Sea-Dweller” almost touching, thin case and “Patent Pending” case back. Furthermore, the watch is accompanied with the correct “Long 5” bezel insert and 9315 bracelet.

In original and impeccable condition, this watch is fostered with a beautiful and clean dial that has shown very minute sign of tropical which is unique for a MK2 dial. Although the case may have been extremely lightly polished, the condition of the present watch is well above many other DSRDs that have been offered in the secondary market in recent years.
