In the 1970s when Rolex had decided to introduce the market with an intriguing set of Hardstone dial for the application on their Day-Date and DateJust collection, it was not an immediate success and required the market a period of time to be accustomed to this new appearance. To make matter worse, authorized retailers at the time would not keep stone-dialed Day-Date and DateJust as inventory, but rather an option that is available upon request at additional cost.
The present Day-Date featuring an Onyx dial is a grail watch for collectors of minimalistic preference. With no markers at all, the design of the watch displays no obstructions for the eyes but would only allow the viewers to adore it’s basic and monochromatic features. In absolutely stunning condition, collector’s today are starting to appreciate the hardstone dials from Rolex, and the present piece is an example which will catch the attention of many.
