The reference 16520 was produced between 1987 and 2000. It was revolutionary in the history of the Daytona.
After 25 years of manual winding chronographs housed in a similar case design (with the exception of the screw-down pushers), Rolex introduced the new model powered by the Zenith El Primero-based automatic calibre 4030 and had a totally new, more modern and robust case design.
Some of the 16520s fitted with a black dial produced between 1993 and 1997 have seen their silver chapter rings of their subsidiary dials changing color to a tropical brown shade. Sometimes referred as Patrizzi, each piece has a different patina, making them unique.
The present example is in very nice and original condition with unusual tropical registers.
