Named after the renowned watchmaker, scientist, as well as one of the founding fathers of A. Lange & Söhne, the Richard Lange collection inherits the adventurous and experimental spirit of this mastermind innovator. The present Tourbillon pour le Mérite is no exception, characterized by an immaculate dial design split into three areas, each displaying the minutes, hours and seconds respectively. Known as a ‘ regulator’ layout, this triple overlap is inspired by a pocket chronometer created by 18th Century Saxon watchmaker, Johann Heinrich Seyffert. The seconds subsidiary dial is ingeniously incorporated with the hand finished tourbillon visible through a cut out and featuring a hacking seconds where a pull on the crown will freeze the movement entirely, allowing time to be set with immense accuracy. This movement is the manually wound caliber L072.1 featuring a fusée and chain transmition, giving the movement a constant quantity of energy, and keeping the watch running at a continual rate. Perhaps the most intriguing and ingenious feature on this hugely impressive watch is to be found on its hour display. Upon reaching 6 o'clock, an additional dial sector appears from 8 to 10 o'clock to help the user read the hour of the day, and upon reaching 12 o'clock the sector would disappear, retracting itself from obstructing the view of the tourbillon. Such clever improvisation and extraordinary execution or even the finest of details is a signature of both A. Lange & Söhne and their "Pour le Mérite" series.

The current watch is presented in excellent overall condition with only minor sings of wear and is accompanied by its A. Lange & Söhne presentation box with outer packaging
