chased above an applied girdle with formal strapwork enclosing trailing foliage on matted grounds, male, female and lion masks at intervals, and below with chased lobes and applied term straps, detachable pedestal foot with further formal strapwork, the narrow neck with fruit filled panels and a bearded mask, the flat cover with geometric panels, the leaf and wing decorated loop handle issuing from a further mask

le corps orné de deux médaillons carrés à tête de lion, d'un cartouche à tête de femme, l'anse appliquée au corps par un masque à tête de faune tirant la langue, dans un entourage de rinceaux feuillagés et panneaux à enroulement, la partie basse appliquée de quatre thermes alternant avec des godrons, entourées de trophées de fruits sur fond amati, le piédouche orné d'une frise de godrons, le col d'un masque d'homme barbu coiffé de plumes, dans un entourage de trophées de fruits et de guirlandes, l'anse à attaches en forme de tête de lion à base feuillagée, l'anse appliquée de quatre ailes et d'un masque d'homme barbu, le couvercle ciselé de six motifs géométriques ornés de rinceaux

The body in overall good condition, the spreading foot worn : partly to be resoldered, one hole, the rim bumped. One hole inside the handle with small cracks around. One bump on the top of the handle. The cover to be partly resoldered on one side.

Very nice design. Rare piece.
