4 5/8 in. (11.6 cm) maximum diameter

Overall in very good condition. When viewed in person, this iconic design by Claude Lalanne retains its original, bright gold surface with slightly less warm hues compared to the catalogue illustration. The bronze with scattered minor surface irregularities which are inherent to the making and the artist’s technique. The gilding exhibits very subtle variations in color, with slightly brighter surfaces on the lips, leaves and stem compared to the more matte gilding around the apple’s body. The back of the sculpture presents with some spotty and minute discolorations to the gilding which are not visually distracting. The recessed area around the stem with some very minor soiling consistent with age and not visually distracting either.
