Jeweled "Turtle Back" Candlestick

patinated bronze, favrile glass

13 1/4 in. (33.6 cm) high

Overall in very good condition. All of the “Turtle Back” tiles and cabochon jewels appear original and undisturbed and present with rich iridescence. The bronze surfaces throughout present with scattered extremely minor surface scratches and abrasions consistent with age and handling. The candlestick presents with some light surface soiling and minor traces of oxidation consistent with age, particularly concentrated around the cabochon jewels. With a reproduction bobeche. With scattered traces of wax residue throughout. A rare and highly naturalistic work by the firm.
