Singe II

1992

hors commerce proof from an edition of 8 plus 4 artist's proof

patinated bronze

monogrammed fxl, impressed SIIB and numbered HC00/00

29⅞ x 5¼ x 8 in. (75.6 x 13.3 x 20.3 cm)

Overall in excellent condition. The present lot, Singe II, represents one of the artist’s most desirable and iconic models. This particular example presents with an exceptionally elegant and vibrant dark brown patina with beautiful complexity when viewed firsthand. The patina presents with very faint discolorations concentrated to the legs and the top of the head, which nicely blend with the rest of the patinated surfaces. The proper right leg exhibits a small black mark measuring approximately 1/4 in. wide and not visually distracting. The underside of the pieces includes four holes which are inherent to production and permit installation on a pedestal. A stunning and playful piece, recently included in the seminal exhibition Les Lalanne à Trianon in Versailles.
