This table was specially made by Gerrit Thomas Rietveld for his youngest daughter Vrouwgien Rietveld (1918-1995) on the occasion of her wedding in 1940. It was later kept by the granddaughter of the designer. Most likely originally painted with a transparent finish, its top will be later painted with an aluminum color and a black finish on the edges and feet. Later, it will be repainted in white. This table is an important example of Rietveld's radical approach to furniture. Its provenance, the traces of time and the evolution of taste on its surface make it an important historical piece.

Cette table a été spécialement réalisée par Gerrit Thomas Rietveld pour sa plus jeune fille Vrouwgien Rietveld (1918-1995) à l'occasion de son mariage en 1940. Elle sera par la suite conservée par la petite fille du créateur. Très certainement peinte à l'origine avec une finition transparente, son plateau sera par la suite peint avec une couleur aluminium et une finition noire sur les bords et les pieds. Plus tard, elle sera repeinte en blanc. Cette table est un exemple important de l'approche radicale du mobilier par Rietveld. Sa provenance, les traces du temps et de l'évolution du goût à sa surface en font une pièce historique importante
