A rare and magnificent cloisonné enamel and gilt-bronze five-piece garniture

Qing dynasty, Kangxi period

清康熙 掐絲琺琅五供一套


comprising: a large tripod censer and cover, finely modelled with elephant head legs and handles, the pierced cover surmounted by a caparisoned recumbent elephant supporting a lotus knop; a pair of caparisoned elephants, each standing four square supporting an archaistic beaker vase on the back; and a pair of kneeling bearded foreigners each with an arm raised supporting a pricket candle stick and drip pan; each piece gilt-bronze with sections of cloisonné enamel lotus scroll in red, blue, white and green
