of cartouche shape, the lid inset with a French or Geneva watchcase painted with the Madonna and child, St. John and another infant holding a golden apple, within a chased leafy scroll border incorporating vignettes of dogs barking at a bird in a tree and a rabbit in a hilly landscape, slightly raised thumbpiece, the sides similarly chased, including hunting hounds, the interior of the lid with the reverse of the enamel plaque representing ta watermill in a windy seascape, two villagers on donkeys in the foreground, unmarked
