Ce grand vase en céramique Nicoya se distingue par la richesse du décor peint et son audacieux modelé audacieuse. Il est peint de couleurs vives dans la coupe d’un reptile ou d’un crustacé stylisé et sur les bords extérieurs d’une frise d’alligators accroupis. Les pieds massifs sont quant à eux agrémentés de têtes aux trait particulièrement marqués.

Distinguished by the densely painted decoration and bold modeling, with the massive tripod feet as effigy heads and a rattle within, each head with lidded eyes, blackened pupils and parted snout, each painted with alternating quadrants of linear and solid design, the bowl brightly painted in the tondo with a stylized reptile or crustacean, and the low outward flaring walls painted with a frieze of crouching stylized alligators.
