A James II Month-Going Walnut Marquetry Longcase Clock, John Wise, London, Circa 1685

the 10 inch dial with winged cherub and scroll spandrels, signed along the lower edge John Wise Londini fecit, matted centre with subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, hands replaced, the movement with five knopped and ringed pillars, anchor escapement, reversed five wheel trains, external locking plate striking on a bell, the case with shallow domed caddy top and five gilt-wood ball finials above a foliate frieze fret and brass-capped spiral pilasters to the rising hood, rectangular trunk door with glazed lenticle, crossbanded plinth on bun feet, the door and plinth inlaid with panels of well-drawn bird and flower marquetry, the sides crossbanded and divided into panels
