“Daffodil” Table Lamp

circa 1905

with a "Day Lilies" pottery base

leaded glass, patinated bronze, glazed earthenware

shade impressed TIFFANY STUDIOS/NEW YORK

base incised with LCT monogram and engraved P766 L.C. Tiffany-Favrile Pottery

oil canister impressed TIFFANY STUDIOS/NEW YORK with the Tiffany Glass & Decorating Company monogram

26 ½ in. (67.3 cm) high

20 ½ in. (52.1 cm) diameter of shade

Overall in very good condition. The shade with approximately five hairline cracks dispersed throughout, stable. The shade with some extremely minor traces of surface soiling concentrated to the contours adjacent to the leadlines, consistent with age. The pottery base is in overall very good condition with scattered minor irregularities in the glaze, inherent in the making. The glaze appears to have been touched in with paint in some small isolated areas, only visible upon close inspection. The glaze with some occasional very minor and stable surface crackling, consistent with age. All of the bronze elements, including the oil canister, electrical conversion, socket cluster, and finial, appear to be later reproductions and are in very good condition with scattered minor surface scratches and abrasions, consistent with age and handling. The upper shoulder of the oil canister near the connection point of the electrical conversion with a small concentrated area of corrosion, not visually distracting. The rim of the pottery base is outfitted with a removable bronze ring to accommodate the oil canister; felt has been added to the rim of the pottery to protect the ceramic and the felt has become slightly detached but is stable and effective.
