Jaq Grantford, an ARC Associate Living Master, was born in 1967, Melbourne, Australia. Jaq's work is included in major museums and private collections. Recently her work was acquired by the MEAM (European Museum of Modern Art) in Barcelona, Spain, and she has work in the National Gallery of Victoria, Australia and the Kennedy Arts Foundation, South Australia. Her art resonates with the general public, repeatedly winning the People's Choice Award in major art prizes, including: the Lester Prize, Shirley Hannan Portrait Prize and the Hidden Faces in Australia. She won the Kennedy Art Prize with the theme of beauty in 2019, was the winner of the Melbourne Cliftons Art Prize, winner of the surrealism prize in the Mortimore Art Prize, winner of the Master of Art International Exhibition Architecture Painting Award, London and a Certificate of Excellence in the International Portrait Prize with the American Portrait Society with her portrait of Jacki Weaver. Her work has been published in numerous catalogues, magazines and books including, 'Through the Artists' Eyes, A History of the Black Swan Prize, 2019', American Art Collector and International Artist.

Many joys and many challenges have crossed Jaq's path throughout her life. The challenges are not solely her story to share, as they have often involved the people she loves. However, they have informed her art practice in many ways, providing her with a means of expression, healing and exploration. Through her art, she strives to discover the relationships between people and the nuances that form their character. Her paintings are about the edges around a person that we often find hard to express with words.
