21 x 13,7 cm; 8¼ x 5⅜ in.

The work has been examined framed. Executed on white wove paper, not laid down, affixed to the mount at several points on the reverse and floating in its mount. There are a few minor creases, most predominately along the extreme edges. There is some light paper skinning towards the date along the lower edge. There are a minor paint shrinkage to the gouache of the sun and some faint media marks along the upper part of the left edge. The sheet is a bit light stained. This work is in overall very good condition.

A variation on this composition, dating from the 1980s, has been exhibited at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid, Pierre Le-Tan, 2004, p. 89. This view shows the river banks of Île-Saint-Louis with a lone traveller under a full moon, and the Quai des Célestins, on the Right Bank, in shadow.

Versions of this composition can be found again and again in Pierre Le-Tan's body of work, throughout his career, and each one is slightly different from the last. In this drawing from 2015, Le-Tan has added a slightly incongruous large fish swimming in the Seine.
