Wilhelm I (1797-1888), as King of Prussia


Printed and manuscript document on vellum signed by both Wilhelm and his Chancellor Otto von Bismarck ("Wilhelm" and "Bismark"), 8 August 1866. 


Establishing the Prussian crown's claim to the Stintenburg estate of the Bernstorff family, countersigned by Bismarck in the lower corner,


2 pages, on vellum, elaborate printed heading featuring the Prussian eagle, pendant red seal in its original hardwood case, Berlin, 8 August 1866


Wilhelm I was King of Prussia from 1861 and German Emperor from 1871 until his death in 1888, This document represents an early step in Otto von Bismarck's long-term aim of uniting the whole of Germany in an Empire ruled from Berlin.
