A rectangular gold-splashed bronze archaistic incense burner

Qing dynasty, 18th century


well cast with slightly everted sides, supported on four corner legs, flanked by a pair of 'F'-shaped handles, the base centred with a recessed rectangular cartouche enclosing an apocryphal two-character Xuande mark, the exterior decorated liberally overall, save for the base, with gold splashes

6.3 x 12.3 x 6.1 cm, 2½ by 4⅞ by 2⅜ in.
