A large gilt wood Buddha

17th century

seated in vajraparyankasana, his left hand originally in bhumisparsha mudra, wearing ample robes opening at the chest revealing beaded jewelry, his serene face set in a meditative expression, framed with long pendulous earlobes and black plaited hairs knotted in a high chignon, the wood lacquered gilt to a rich orange colour
