A basin painted with a similar subject, probably dating from late Kangxi period, is in the collections of the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, illustrated in Christian J.A. Jörg, Chinese Ceramics in the Collection of the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, no.174, p. 159, from the bequest of Mr & Mrs J.C.J. Druker-Fraser, 1944. See also a Kangxi period famille verte rouleau vase of the same design in the collections of the Shanghai Museum, published in Wang Qingzheng, Kangxi porcelain ware from the Shanghai Museum Collection, no, 127, pp. 196-197, where the author describes the scene as "The Emperor Xuanzong standing beside Yang Guifei, the most beautiful woman in China looking on at ladies picking lotus flowers". Compare as well a large Yongzheng dish painted with a similar scene, illustrated in DR. G.C.Williamson, The book of Famille Rose, 1927, pl. XL1V. The decoration refers to a Tang Dynasty Story which took place at the Huaqing Palace, built in 747.
