Conceived in 1888 and cast in bronze by the Foundry Alexis Rudier between 1928 and 1946 in an edition of at least 10 examples; this example cast in bronze in 1944.


This work will be included in the forthcoming Catalogue Critique de l'oeuvre sculpté d'Auguste Rodin being currently prepared by Galerie Brame & Lorenceau under the direction of Jérôme Le Blay under the archive number 2021-6315B.

Black patina. There is some minor wear to the patina to the most protruding elements and along the extreme edges. There is some superficial dust in the crevices in places, and some tiny dots of verdigris in places to some of the crevices. There are a few tiny dots of patina losses to the extreme edge of the rock, below the signature. This work is in overall very good condition.
