La Vallée du Célé or Paysage du Lot

signé A. LHOTE (en bas à gauche)

huile sur toile

98,5 x 99,4 cm; 38¾ x 39⅛ in.

Peint en 1912.

Cette œuvre sera incluse dans le catalogue raisonné actuellement en préparation par Dominique Bermann Martin.

The work has been examined framed. The canvas is not lined. Examination under UV light reveals a few lines and dots of retouching (approx. 3cm wide) associated with a patch on the reverse to the upper right quadrant. There are a few additional spots of retouching in places, notably to the upper part of the green/blue shape towards the centre of the right edge, above the bridge (located 36cm from left edge and 44cm from lower edge) and a few scattered smaller dots of retouching. There is an horizontal stretcher bar mark running along the lower edge and lighter stretcher bar marks running along the other edges. This is some frame rubbing associated with small paint losses along the extreme edges and a few further flecks of paint losses in places, most predominately to the yellow shape in the lower right corner and to the bridge. There are a few fine lines of stable craquelure. There is some dirt ingrained to the varnish and a few flyspots in places. This work is on overall good condition and could benefit from a clean.
