A large gilt-bronze and cloisonné enamel lobed basin
Qing dynasty, 17th-18th century
the rounded sides rising from a short foot to an everted rim divided into a six petal-shaped rim, the interior decorated with pavilions in a lake scene, all encircled by meandering lotus scrolls and flower sprays issuing from pierced rocks atop the rim, the exterior with horses striding on top of waves, all reserved against a bright turquoise ground

A closely related 17th century basin is in the musée des Arts décoratifs, Paris, bequested by the Baroness Salomon de Rothschild to the Fondation nationale des Arts graphiques et plastiques in 1923.
