Claude Lalanne

Unique Structure Végétale Candelabra

2013

number 1 from an edition of 1

gilt bronze

monogrammed CL, impressed CLAUDE/LALANNE, dated 2013 and numbered 1

35 ½ in. (90.1 cm) high

22 in. (55.8 cm) maximum diameter

Overall in very good condition. This iconic candelabra by Claude Lalanne, characterized by stylized leaves swirling around two central stems, embodies her poetic and whimsical artistic vision. When viewed in person, the gilt bronze surface presents with beautiful and variegated shades of blond and bright gold that enhance the three-dimensional and artistic quality of the piece. The gilt bronze presents with minor surface irregularities, particulate inclusions and minute pinholes which are inherent to the making and typical for works by Claude Lalanne. The inside of the bobeches present with some rubbing to the patina consistent with use and not visually distracting. The bobeches with some minor wax residue consistent with use and which can be cleaned at the client’s discretion. The seven candles pictured in the catalogue photography are not provided with the piece. A magnificent and functional creation by Claude Lalanne with superb scale and sculptural presence.
