Louis Majorelle
Two-Tiered Occasional Table
circa 1900
mahogany, gilt bronze
29 ¼ x 25 x 25 in. (74.2 x 63.5 x 63.5 cm)
Overall in very good condition. The wooden surfaces appear to have been sensitively refinished at some point in its history to revitalize the rich quality of the mahogany. The mahogany surfaces present with light scratches throughout, minor abrasions concentrated to the legs and small indentations concentrated to the edges as consistent with gentle use. The wood presents with minor scattered crackling consistent with age and occasional areas of sensitive restoration and filling to the seams to maintain structural integrity of the piece. One leg presents with a crack around the circumference of the leg which appears stable. The gilt bronze mounts are in well-preserved condition with some light oxidation consistent with age.
